This is “Joy”. Well, this is a print of “Joy” (Mr Poindexter bought the original some months back ❤️❤️❤️). I keep saying Joy isn’t a literal depiction of me...but she’s definitely me in energy and spirit. I’ve changed sooooo much from the person that I used to be, and I genuinely feel joy these days 😌. If you knew me even just two years ago, the fact that I can even say that I’m HAPPY would shock you!! To get here, I had to make changes that felt so super uncomfortable to me, so I’m proud of my journey. I had to learn who I am, and then to stand strong in who I am. Then I had to make a concerted effort to ELIMINATE what felt wrong in my life. Not ‘keep the bad at a distance’, or only engage when I feel necessary... no. E-lim-i-nate. And when I tell you that folks who are used to abusing you emotionally don’t like being cut-off, I meeeeeeean it. Lately, I get homing pigeons coming at me from all sorts of angles 🐦. Texts and calls are easy to ignore, but like, gifts have been left on my front porch, sent in the mail, and even hand delivered by said cut-offs to my front door. Folks get aggressive about their agendas! I put them all in a box, because I want you to check that gift card number and know that I didn’t use it... didn’t need it... don’t want it. Go away lol. Maybe I’ll do a raffle at a show for this collected box of goodies 😂. Lately, I’ve also learned not to argue with people who I know after 35 years of living will never understand where I’m coming from. Sometimes the best response, is no response. I used to be that person who yearned for acceptance from everyone I knew... and it caused me to make some really dumb choices along the way. Then I turned to the wrong people to help me feel better about the repercussions of my actions, and of course the cycle continued. Y’all I love 35... I’m on my Ariana Grande these days... I’m having the best discussions with yours truly, doing me, and taking care of me.
